Georges (Trintignant) and Anne (Riva) are in their eighties. They are cultivated, retired music teachers. Their daughter Eva (Huppert), who is also a musician, lives abroad with her family. One day, Anne has an attack and the couple’s bond of love is severely tested. A joint Austrian-French-German production as written and directed by Academy Award® nominee Haneke, this French-language drama was screened at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival where it won the prestigious Palme d’Or – Haneke’s second win of the festival’s highest award following his widely acclaimed The White Ribbon.
