Benjamin Rous's appointment as Music Director ushers in an exciting new era for the Charlottesville Symphony. His inaugural program opens with the breathless virtuosity of John Adams' fanfare, Short Ride in a Fast Machine. Principal Clarinet Shawn Earle is featured in Mozart's last completed work, the soulful Clarinet Concerto. And Beethoven fans will revel in his Symphony No. 7, described at various times as "optimistic" and "completely captivating."
