Music Director Benjamin Rous closes out his first season with the Charlottesville Symphony with a (big) bang! Don’t miss this multimedia exploration of music inspired by space and the heavenly bodies, featuring Gustav Holst’s spectacular The Planets. From the stirring battle sounds of “Mars, the Bringer of War” to the distant, otherworldly “Neptune, the Mystic,” The Planets is truly one of the masterpieces of twentieth century orchestral music. The Symphony’s galactic exploration also includes Orion, a spritely and mysterious work by renowned Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho.
