2011. USA. 94 min. Director: Marshall Lewy. Cast: Robert Carlyle, Danny Masterson, William Russ.
Middle-aged former British pop rocker Lachlan MacAldonich (Carlyle, The Full Monty) has settled into a comfortably numb existence working as a farmhand in Los Angeles. He spends his spare time drinking and recording his podcast “Flame-Outs,” which recounts the tragic deaths of great musicians. Following a DUI charge, which dredges up a past drug offense, Lachlan is threatened with deportation. His effort to stay in the country forces him to face his past demons and rekindle his relationship with his ex-wife and daughter. Carlyle carries the film with a layered performance, one of his strongest to date.
