Where Do We Go From Here? The Future of Free Speech on College Campuses
It has been 60 years since the start of the Free Speech Movement on college campuses. Where do we go from here? Join us on October 17 in Old Cabell Hall for a discussion about the movement’s future.
The evening will begin with the debut of a short documentary by Oscar-winning filmmaker and UVA professor Paul Wagner, detailing the start of the free speech movement at UC Berkeley in the fall of 1964.
Following the documentary, Bari Weiss, founder of The Free Press and Mitch Daniels, former governor of Indiana and former President of Purdue University, will discuss what’s at stake with free speech on college campuses and explore where the free speech movement may be heading next.
This event is sponsored by Think Again, Heterodox Academy at University of Virginia and UVA Office of Engagement.
Ensuring the safety of our guests is always a top priority. Walk-Through Metal Detectors (Magnetometers) will be used to search all guests entering the event. A clear bag policy will be in effect and all bags are subject to search, which may result in entry delays. Please arrive early to allow extra time for security procedures.
Please Note: Tickets will become unavailable for reservation online, in-person, and by phone at 10AM Thursday, October 17. If available, tickets for UVA students, faculty, and staff members can be obtained beginning at 6:00 PM at Old Cabell Hall. UVA students, faculty, and staff will need to show UVA ID in order to obtain a ticket.
