John Adams – The Chairman Dances
Subtitled “Foxtrot for Orchestra”, this playful scene imagines a moment of dance between a youthful Mao Tse-Tung and the future Madame Mao during a banquet that she has interrupted.

Ottorino Respighi – Fountains of Rome
Mist at dawn, morning spray, noontime’s blazing sun, bells, birds, breezes and twinkling stars capture a day at four fountains across the city in the first work of Respighi’s Roman trilogy.

Franz Liszt – Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2
The most famous of Liszt’s 19 Hungarian Rhapsodies, this orchestral arrangement has enjoyed widespread popularity in animated cartoons such as “Tom & Jerry”, “Bugs Bunny”, “Mickey Mouse” and “Donald Duck.”

Keiko Abe – Prism Rhapsody for Marimba and Orchestra
The virtuosity of Charlottesville Symphony Principal Percussion I-Jen Fang dazzles throughout this tour-de-force marimba concerto.
